Grace Towns Hamilton

Grace Towns Hamilton was a pioneering civil rights leader and the first Black woman elected to the Georgia General Assembly. Throughout her career, she advocated for education reform, social justice, and equal opportunity for marginalized communities. Hamilton’s work broke racial and gender barriers in public office and created space for greater representation in Georgia politics. Her legacy represents persistence, public service, and community advocacy.
